ALL DAY BREAKFASTS!
A few weeks ago, I went to Kith Cafe to have my very first one! :)
Score Card:
1. Freshness
The set was FRESH FROM THE KITCHEN because literally everything they serve there is prepared only after you order it!
Everything was warm and toasty when it was served :) The aroma from the multigrain bread gave its freshness away!
Made me feel like I was having breakfast on the English countryside. The surface of the poached egg was still glistening from the water that it was cooked in! *_* As for the bratwurst aka German sausage, it was gleaming in oil! However, its juices came oozing out as I sunk my teeth into it. Its meat also came out in chunks, unlike the cheap sausages that we buy from the local supermarkets, where the meat looks like it was processed from every part of the animal D: The bacon strips were especially fragrant. It was also a little bit crispy on the edges, which tells us that it was just fried! :) The mushrooms and tomato were nicely prepared, complemented with just the right amount of salt.
Overall: 8/10
2.Tastiness
Multigrain bread: When I bit into it, its crisp texture melted into an abyss of chewiness. I could really just eat the bread on its own because it was really fibrous! And they weren't kidding when they called it Multigrain bread! Its crust was adorned with loads of seeds and grains! How nice of them to think of our digestive systems :) To top it off, it was toasted to perfection, treating you to the sound of cracking bread whenever you bit into it. Magnifique.
Poached eggs: Although it was shining bright like a diamond on the plate, it didn't really taste as good as I thought it would.
It tasted like a normal sunny side up. However, when I sliced through the ivory encasement, bright orange yolk oozed out like a wave breaking onto the sea shore. Definitely a way to tell that it was skillfully poached :')
Bratwurst: It was waxy on the outside and chewy on the inside. As bipolar as it sounds, it was the most delicious thing on the plate! :) I bit through meat that was chunky enough to give the meal that extra crunch!
Bacon Strips: It looked like it was bathing in oil. Although it is expected for bacon strips to be like that, I personally like mine less oily. Nonetheless, it tasted exactly like how it should: Crispy, chewy and a little saltier than ham :)
Mushrooms & Tomato: They sliced and salted the shrooms! But there was a little too much salt, which overpowered the natural taste of the mushrooms. They fried the tomato, which was a little safe for me. I was hoping for a baked tomato, topped with some melty cheese.
Overall: 6/10
3. Quality
Kith Cafe serves above-average quality food. My breakfast set gave me the luxury of choosing which type of bread I'd like - Multigrain Bread, Sourdough, White, Brioche and Spelt (low gluten). I could also choose how I'd like my eggs to be done - Poached, Scrambled, Sunny Side Up, Overeasy, Omelette. The brand of my butter spread was Lurpak, a Danish dairy brand.
Overall: 8/10
4. Presentation
They put effort into presenting it prim and properly :) It helped me to pace my eating as I was picking my plate one piece at a time LOL
Overall: 7/10
5. Worthy of your trip down?
It's just a stone's throw away from Dhoby Ghaut MRT station :) Situated at Park Mall, it's both a good opportunity to venture outside mainland Plaza Singapura and to have a taste of what this cafe has to offer. Expect to wait at least 20mins if you're going without a reservation on weekends, because this place fills up to the brim!
Overall: 6/10
6. Waiting time
I waited close to 20mins for my meal. It took longer than I expected, because there really isn't much to prepare D:
It was probably due to the popularity of this place. Every table was waiting for their food too haha!
Overall: 5/10
7. Ambience
Its a pretty nice place to chill and just talk over coffee on WEEKDAYS :)
I wouldn't recommend it if you're intending to stay for the entire duration of your novel, because there just aren't enough seats to accommodate the unending queue of people coming in during the WEEKENDS. You can choose to take a chill pill and sit inside the cafe where its air-conditioned or enjoy the afternoon breeze outside :) Their interior design kinda looked like it was inspired by the layering we see in plywood. There was also the tendency of unintentionally eavesdropping in the conversations of others as the place was a little cramp. People still tried to keep their voices down though.
Overall: 6/10
8. Service
There's no need for queuing up as they would ask you to leave your name and contact number on their waiting list.
Just wait for them to call you and your table will be ready! :) I waited for 15mins.
Overall: 7/10
9. Worthy of recommendation to others?
I honestly feel that it's a place I would only visit ONCE. It's the kind of place that would 'wow' you once and you'll be done with it. The sets there are overpriced - I paid about $18 for mine. But if you're a spender, then what are you waiting for! :)
Overall: 5/10
10. Instagram-worthiness
Absolutely worthy of your effort in putting it onto Instagram, because its interior design is unique and the meals are pleasantly presented!
Overall: 8/10
Total Score: 66/100
And yet another place down!
